Colonna Audiology is the private practice of Sandy Colonna, Au.D., a licensed audiologist who has been helping patients hear their best for more than 35 years. As an independent hearing professional, she strives to give each patient as much time and attention as it takes to fully understand and treat their individual hearing situation.
Dr. Colonna's private practice has served Yonkers since 1991, and she has been an active part of the community for decades. Patients return to see her year after year, even if they have to drive a distance to see her, and some have trusted her with their hearing since the 1990s. It is an honor to know that patients and their families believe in our practice and choose Dr. Colonna's care for decades.
Dr. Colonna is fully licensed as an audiologist and hearing aid dispenser in the state of New York. She holds a B.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Iona College, an M.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Adelphi University, and an Au. D. from the University of Florida. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and received the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Over the course of her long career, Dr. Colonna has worked in many environments: ear-nose-throat (ENT) offices, medical centers, hospitals, and even as an as an adjunct instructor at the college level. This diverse background has prepared her to help patients with even the most complicated hearing challenges. Not only does she have considerable experience to draw on, she also has a network of the best hearing and balance professionals in the region and can refer patients to these partner healthcare professionals when needed.
For all her experience in different offices and in the classroom, Dr. Colonna's favorite setting is her private practice. With Colonna Audiology, she can take as much time as she needs for each patient to truly listen to what they need and address their needs.
After we’ve completed your complete audiological evaluation, we’ll go over the results with you in detail. We will make sure that you understand the results and what they mean for you. Some hearing loss can be addressed with medical treatment; if yours can, we’ll refer you to one of the best specialists in the area so you will know you are in good hands. If we determine that you’re a candidate for hearing aids, we’ll go over your hearing aid options and recommend the hearing aids we feel will best fit your individual hearing needs. We never pressure you into making a decision or even buying hearing aids if you are not ready.
If you think you might want to move forward with hearing aids, we will talk to you about what you are interested in and use demo units to help you try out the different devices. We have a great deal of information to share to make sure you fully understand your options before you make a decision.
We allow our patients to demo hearing aids in our office so you can see for yourself what a difference they’ll make for you. We always recommend that our patients bring a third party (such as a spouse or other family member) so we can test your hearing aid settings on a voice you’re used to. We think you’ll be amazed at how clearly the hearing aids let you hear them.
